Of course, if you have a typical aquatic Z4 hydraulic motor, your bypass switch may be corroded. I couldnt get my roof to bypass until I took the motor out and cleaned up and re-greased the button (this was a by-product of repairing the entire pump), all ok now.
On the Z4, you do not intently "lock" the trunk, it is, by default, locked : there is no button to open the trunk, you have to either press the remote button, press the cabin switch or insert the key in the lock and turn it. billz. Hi Mark, if the motor has been relocated into the boot you might be able to see where the fluid is leaking from. The motor is originally located on the passenger side behind the door in the side panel. Usually relocated in the boot, again at the front left corner of the boot space as you look into the boot.
Z4 passenger door won't unlock. When I unlock with fob, or interior button, the passenger door unlocks but won't open. The little lock knob pops up/down fine, but pulling on the interior or exterior handle does not engage the mechanism that opens the latch. Usually you can pull on the handle several times and it finally works.
