So everytime I go into a battle it says "you stand to gain X renown if you win this battle". But in the end I get like X/2, X/3. Last time it said I would gain 10 and got 5.

mods in M&B are very very easy. you just download the mod folder. it is one folder. you take the folder and put it inside "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules" or however it looks in your PC. Basically put it in the folder called modules in your warband folder.
