10. Jan 30, 2022. #1. I can't seem to get 5.1 sound to work onboard sound w/ MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX. MSI support page shows a download for Realtek audio console from Microsoft store but not working from the store (says problem is on their end and too retry ( (also followed all the troubleshooting store page provided)), all to no avail).
Hi all, relatively new to lunix. Just finished a new build; my motherboard is a MSI Z390-A Pro and the OS is Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Upon installation, the sound and wifi doesn't seem to be working.
In your DVD playback software, configure it to use SPDIF output for audio. This causes the player not to decode any audio but to instead just send the audio stream to your output, so your receiver can decode it. Playback of a movie with 5.1 audio should result in the Dolby or DTS logo on your receiver lighting up.
To summarise, the procedure which got this working on my MSI B550M Mortar motherboard with Realtek ALC1200 codec on Windows 7 was: 1. Firstly, be aware that I tried about 20 different Realtek HD audio driver packages including R267, R270, R280, R281, R282, and none of these worked.

Motherboard Failure: Diagnosis and Solutions. Repair of electronic components. If your computer suddenly (or not so suddenly) stops working, it’s possible the issue is the motherboard

Make sure to download the AMD chipset drivers for your motherboard, then download and install the Realtek audio drivers. Even without any speakers connected you should be able to switch from Stereo, 5.1 Surround & 7.1 Surround. Click to expand That did it! Thank you. VrtI.
