I use a Tamron 24-70 G2. They're available used on MPB for around $900 USD. The AF is clearly slower than RF glass, but I have found it to be plenty sticky and it isn't slow so much as RF AF is mega woosh speed. EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L is around $1,300 on there as well, if you want to stick with Canon. 1. The RF 28-70 f/2L is the better event, candid, wedding shooter. However, the RF 50mm f/1.2L is unique, is the better staged portrait shooter, low light king, but f/1.2 is often too shallow. The 28-70 is more versatile.
