The craziest album of that era to me was Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Released like one week after 9/11 and written and recorded before 9/11, and it sounds like a goddam premonition. Cover features two towers and “Jesus Etc” has lines like: “Tall buildings shake - voices escape singing sad sad songs - two two chords.”.
