For other uses of the term, see sanctuary. The sanctuary is an adventure map structure in the Heroes of Might and Magic series. It first appeared in Heroes of Might and Magic III, and has appeared in every game since. The sanctuary will protect any hero that enters it, preventing enemy heroes from attacking it. This can be used to escape from a stronger hero - simply hide inside the sanctuary
